Zimbabwe’s electoral process is a unique process that we can learn. Actually, Zimbabwe’s government is not much different from other country http://128.199.145.222/. Zimbabwe is a unitary republic state. A prime minister used to be the head of the state, but nowadays, a president and two vice presidents are the head of the state. They can only serve for two period. Under their commando, the presidents and vice presidents are assisted by The Parliament which consists of the National Assembly and the Senate. All of the parliament members can only serve for five years. To get the right people to occupy this position, Zimbabwe’s Electoral Commission held election process to elect the candidates.
There are several requirements they need to fulfil so they can have their names as the candidates for those positions. If someone wants to apply for the presidential candidates, they have to be a citizen of Zimbabwe, a registered voter and 40 years old or above, but if someone wants to apply for the national assembly candidates they have to be a citizen of Zimbabwe, a registered voter and be 21 years old or above, while for the senate candidates they have to be be a citizen of Zimbabwe, a registered voter, 41 years old and above and registered within the province.
The election process is held at the same time, this is called the harmonized elections. All of the election processes are based on the laws in force in the country. The voting is officially started when the date for the election day is announced. The date will be determined by the president who has previously consulted with ZEC. After the selection time has been determined, then ZEC’s next task is to be responsible for designing, printing, and distributing ballots. All of these processes must be carried out on time.
On the polling day, for someone who wants to be able to vote, they must bring their valid national identity documents. Those who have brought all the requirements can only vote in the polling station where their name is registered as a voter. For the voting process, everything is done in secret as stated in Section 67 (3) of the Constitution and Section 56 (1) of the Electoral Act (Chapter 2:13), but if the voter is someone with disability, he/she is allowed to ask someone to accompany them.
